Four-Day Itinerary for an Ultimate Asheville, N.C. Getaway
Day One
Check-In at the Sourwood Inn
Our inn is situated on 100 acres just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at marker 376. You’ll want to check out our directions on our web site as we are off the beaten path. You will be greeted at our front desk with a glass of sparkling wine and after you are relaxed we’ll give you a tour of the many common areas both inside and out for you to explore and relax in. All of our staff is well versed in things to do around the area and are happy to answer any questions you may have about your four day itinerary.
Take a casual walk around our two mile nature trails.
Your body is probably a little stiff after your day of travel. Take advantage of our beautiful hiking trail. You’ll walk past the serenity pond and tea house and maybe enjoy a game of horse shoes.
Enjoy a delicious farm direct meal at the inn
After your busy travel day and if you are staying at the inn between Thursday – Sunday enjoy a delicious dinner with us. We have a wonderful curated wine list for you to pair with your three course meal which is price fix. Check out our current dinner menu here. If you are arriving when our dining room is closed on Monday-Wednesday we have many down-town restaurants to recommend.
Day Two
Enjoy and savor the bountiful breakfast buffet at Sourwood
Begin each day of your stay with breakfast at the Sourwood Inn. We always have our locally roasted coffee out at 7am and our breakfast buffet is served between 8-9:30am Our breakfast offerings are made in-house daily using the freshest ingredients from local farms and dairies giving you plenty of healthy options to fuel your day of exploring.

Enjoy an evening meal in Asheville
With so many restaurants to choose from your sure to find the perfect spot for your evening meal. Some of our favorites include Curate , Chestnut and Jargons. Day Three
Visit the Biltmore Estate
The Biltmore estate is the largest private home in the United States and is quite remarkable! It’s very easy to spend a day here touring the home and gardens. Relax at the inn
After a busy day of exploring the Biltmore estate and gardens, head back to the Sourwood Inn. Our afternoon refreshments include some savory items, our signature herbal ice tea and a homemade cookie of the day. Sourwood has our wine and beer license so you can always enjoy that perfect glass of wine or craft beer. Head outside to our outdoor patio and relax with a good book while listening to the songbirds with vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains as a back drop. Dinner options are many, and we are alway available to chat about your options.
Day Four
Spend the morning hiking. We have many wonderful trails to choose from and this blog highlights 7 of them with the Rattlesnake Lodge Trail being popular and close to the inn. It’s filled with a great story and a moderate walk. Before your hike you may want to pick up a picnic lunch from Well-Bred Bakery and Cafe (three locations to choose from). Afterwards head down to Asheville for an afternoon of shopping. There are so many unique boutique shops to choose from along with our favorite pottery store-East Fork Pottery. You may also want to check out our popular Botanical Gardens.
As your remarkable Asheville getaway comes to a close, return to the inn to sadly pack up your belongings. We always have a light dinner option of Strubuns from BarnHouse Kitchen which we serve with a fresh local garden salad.
