We are always available to help personalize your trip or make reservations for you. So pack your bags now for the ideal Asheville road itinerary!
Day 1–
Arrival day at the inn. Depending on how far you have to travel to reach Asheville, you may want to leave early in the morning to allow extra time to mosey around downtown Asheville before you check-in at the inn. Here you will find unique eateries, lively pubs, local entertainment, and interesting shops. Some of our favorite stops include East Fork Pottery Showroom (all of our plates are from this famous potter), Asheville Chocolates, River Art District, Tupelo Honey for lunch or relaxing in a local brewpub to kick off your Asheville getaway. Check-in at the inn is anytime between 4-9 pm.
Arrival at the inn is a magical time. Your innkeeper will greet you at the front desk with a glass of sparkling wine. You may decide to stop here and relax on one of the many secluded porches or fires with your glass of bubbly. We’ll give you a tour and show you your room when you are ready.
Sourwood Inn is known for the delicious meals served from Thursday to Sunday. Always homemade and farm to table whenever possible. Reservations are needed.
Day 2
If you are a history buff, you will want to put a whole day aside to explore the famous Biltmore Estate. Check out this previous blog for Insider Tips. After you tour the estate, remember there are plenty of other activities at the Biltmore to enjoy, including hiking, shopping, eateries, winery, and horseback riding. For your evening meal, you will have so many choices. Two of our favorites include Corner Kitchen and Forestry Camp; check out a previous blog for more options.
Day 3
If nature and hiking are your things, grab a box lunch from Well-Bred Bakery in Weaverville and a bottle of wine from our wine list and go on a waterfall hunt. Our area is filled with many hiking trails and waterfalls.
Day 4
Many of our guests decide to take one day and relax at the inn. Wintertime finds plenty of fires to relax in front of, and summertime brings games of horseshow and hiking on Sourwood’s hiking trails.
Day 5
Without hopping on the Blue Ridge Parkway, no trip to Asheville would be complete. Magnificent views, hiking trails, and waterfalls, all nearby from the highway. The parkway is just a short 1-mile drive from the inn, and you may decide to check out the Rattlesnake Lodge Trail or the Craggy Gardens Trails which are very close to the inn.
