Gran Fondo Asheville- July 18th
This year the 2021 Gran Fondo Asheville will include the 2021 USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championship and will ride right by the driveway of our inn. We are proud local supporters of this race. Many cyclists find the Sourwood Inn the perfect location to enjoy the many biking opportunities available in our area of Asheville and including the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Independence Day in Asheville | Friday, July 4th
Celebrate the glory of freedom by living the good life in Asheville and our surrounding towns . The ideal 4th of July is everywhere you turn, and you can’t help but have a good time by spending the first weekend of the month at The Sourwood Inn. Grandfather Mountain Highland Games
The Grandfather Mountain Highland Games are modelled after the Braemar Highland Games in Scotland, and are considered to be the preeminent Scottish Games in the United States. Witness a full weekend full of bagpipe parades, Highland dancing competitions, and traditional athletics such as “tossing the sheaf” and “turning the caber.” This one of a kind festival has to be seen to be believed—it’s definitely worth a special trip. http://www.gmhg.org/

Folkmoot Parade of Nations and International Festival | Starts Friday July 22 and continues for two weeks!
It’s the 37th anniversary of the Folkmoot Festival! More than 200 groups from 100 different countries converge on Waynesville to share cultural music, crafts, dancing, and food. You never know what you’ll find at the International Folk Festival, but you know it will always be interesting. This event is spread out across the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, so you can do some local sightseeing at the same time that you soak up international culture. Art in Bloom- Black Mountain Center for the Arts- July8th-10th
Art in Bloom is a multi-faceted event celebrating nature and art combining two gallery exhibits, live floral arrangements, local garden tours featuring working artists, and floral-inspired workshops. Check out the event calendar here.
Brews and Bears- WNC Nature- Center July 9th-August 13th
Tap into your wild side at the WNC Nature Center for plenty of food and entertainment. Plus, you’ll get to see our black bears, Uno and Ursa enjoy a popsicle enrichment activity too!
