Our mountain lodge is nestled in Elk Mountain and is just a half-mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Here you’ll find breathtaking views, quiet nature, and upscale amenities. Chef Casey provides farm-to-table meals, and your hosts have curated an impressive wine list, including some local craft beer. Many guests tell us they never want to leave our mountain, but you have many options to fill your day as downtown Asheville is just a short 20-minute drive from the inn. So whether you and your partner prefer leisure or adventure, you can make your Asheville Romantic Getaway a Bucket List Memory of a lifetime. We have included some helpful tips in this blog to help you plan your trip. Feel free to reach out to our innkeeper or check out the many blogs on our website.

The Best Time to Visit Romantic Asheville, North Carolina

Asheville is perfect for a romantic getaway in Western North Carolina, whatever season you decide to visit.

Fall is the most popular and busy time in Asheville. Travelers come far and wide to see the spectacular colors on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Leaves start to change color in late September and run through early November. However, we believe the other three seasons are just as special. Spring and summer bring plenty of opportunities to check out our National Parks and the many outdoor areas in downtown Asheville.

Plan your romantic Asheville getaway in late fall through early spring for a quieter stay. You’ll find lower lodging rates, our Best Value Wine and Dine Package, and a fun Wine Weekend.

Asheville Romantic Activities

Romantic lodging, luxurious amenities, and yummy food are three essential parts of making your Asheville romantic getaways memorable. But you’ll probably also want some unforgettable and adventurous experiences to sprinkle in during your Asheville Romantic Getaway. Shown below are some of our favorites, many available year-round.

Hiking

Whether you are looking for a short walk through nature or you’d like to plan a full day hike, the Blue Ridge Mountains and the North Carolina State Parks have the perfect trail for you. From summit hikes with stunning views to hiking trails alongside impressive waterfalls to paths lined with mountain wildflowers, there’s an Asheville hike for everyone!

Biltmore House and Gardens

The Biltmore Estate is a top attraction in Asheville. George Vanderbilt built the 250 room mansion in the 1890s. We recommend spending a full day exploring the gardens, mansion and enjoying a glass of wine at their vineyard. For first-time visitors, check out this blog for all the hints.

Romantic Things to Do in Asheville in Winter

Blazing Fires, Fresh Roasted Coffee & Hot Chocolate

Coffee and hot chocolate are among our favorite things to partake in during the winter months. We have plenty of beverages to enjoy at the inn, but we love visiting the French Broad Chocolate Bar and Double D’s for a great cup of Latte during your trip to Asheville! Each of our deluxe rooms includes an old fashion fireplace stocked with wood. Many of our common rooms also have fires blazing during the colder months. You get the picture- plenty of relaxation and romance for your winter Asheville Romantic Getaway!

Holiday Events

Winter is synonymous with the holidays, so it’s no surprise that we recommend joining the holiday celebrations around Asheville. The inn will be festively decorated the Monday after Thanksgiving, and all of Asheville is a glow.

Biltmore during the holidays

The Biltmore House is even more magical when adorned for the holidays. You’ll see 55 elaborate hand-decorated trees, including the favorite 35-ft. live Fraser fir in the Banquet Hall, a thousand poinsettias, miles of garland, and live music.

Winter Lights at The North Carolina Arboretum goes from mid-November to January 1st. In addition to enjoying the light exhibits, you’ll also enjoy live music performances, old-fashioned trains, hot cocoa, storytimes, fire pits, and s’mores.

Our Favorite Romantic Asheville Activities for Any Season

Hiking, Biking & Waterfalls

Enjoying nature can be very romantic! Just a short drive from the inn, you will find Pisgah Forest. This beautiful land was once the property of George W. Vanderbilt and is considered the birthplace of modern forestry in America. Pisgah is home to old-growth forests and the highest mountain peaks east of the Mississippi. DuPont State Forest is another popular destination and was made famous as the setting for the movies The Hunger Games and The Last of the Mohicans. It is home to incredible waterfalls, mountain lakes, and hiking trails.

Sunrise and Sunsets

Nothing is more romantic than rising early and seeing the sunrise peeking over the Blue Ridge Mountains. Or, if you want to grab a picnic and a bottle of wine from our cellar, sunsets are also a perfect way to say “I love you.”

Visit Downtown Asheville

Our lively downtown has gorgeous architecture, artisan shops, farm-to-table restaurants, exciting museums, fun street performers, and free festivals. The diverse mix of culture, music, and art has led our city center to be called the “Paris of the South.”

Wine & Beer Tastings

What could be more romantic than enjoying a mug of craft beer while enjoying some local entertainment? Breweries are plentiful in Western North Carolina, with many moving here because of our pure mountain water supply. You’ll also find several vineyards where you can relax amongst the vines and enjoy a cup of vino together.
