Asheville Bed and Breakfast | Things to Do in June

Blog · May 23, 2014

Spring is still in bloom throughout Asheville, but summer is on its way.  You have just enough time to catch the most beautiful season and some of the most stunning outdoor vistas available in Asheville before things start heating up.  Come stay for a visit at our majestic bed and breakfast, open up your French doors, and enjoy the cool spring breeze from your own private balcony.  Enjoy the view of the Reems Creek Valley when you’re in at the Inn, and while you’re out, catch some of Asheville’s best spring events!

The Remarkable Rhododendron Rumble | June 1st – 16th

http://www.grandfather.com/events/the-remarkable-rhododendron-ramble-2/

Sweet rose-lavender rhododendrons are blooming all across Grandfather Mountain.  It’s a truly remarkable sight to take in thousands of these flowers at their peak of beauty, and you can experience guided tours of this natural wonder throughout the first half of June.  Enjoy a hike and savor one of the prettiest annual phenomenon available in Asheville.

Geek Out Asheville | June 6th – 8th

http://geekoutavl.org/

Asheville is one of the country’s best hotspots for outdoor freaks, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have special love our indoor geeks too!  Geek out with cosplay, puppetry, comic books, movie props, and more geektastic excitement for your inner nerd.  There’s fun for the whole family with KidsCon for youngsters, and after hours events including fandom inspired burlesque just for adults.  The Sourwood Inn loves this event—come play with us!

Asheville Percussion Festival | June 20th – 22nd

http://www.ashevillepercussionfestival.com/

The 3rd annual Asheville Percussion Festival will take over the Diana Wortham Theater and Downtown Asheville’s OM Sanctuary during this weekend long event.  Feel the rhythm during free public events, or participate in one of twenty-two workshops led by world renowned faculty.  $75 will buy a weekend pass to all workshops and concerts.  This is a once in a lifetime experience for Bed-and-Breakfast-Asheville-NCdrum enthusiasts.

Shindig on the Green | June 28th (continues Saturdays through August)

It’s the 48th consecutive season of Shindig on the Green.  Catch the opening ceremonies on Saturday June 28th.  From 7-10 PM, the new Pack Square Park gathers locals and visitors alike to share in the music and dance traditions of Southern Appalachia.  Shindig on the Green was voted “#1 Local Outdoor Concert” three years in a row (2006, 2007, 2008) by readers of Asheville’s own Mountain Xpress, and it’s still one of Asheville’s most defining local events.

Enjoy your stay at the Sourwood Inn!
