The Grandfather Mountain Highland Games are modelled after the Braemar Highland Games in Scotland, and are considered to be the preeminent Scottish Games in the United States. Folkmoot Parade of Nations and International Festival | Starts Friday July 18 and continues for two weeks!
It’s the 30th anniversary of the Folkmoot Festival! More than 200 groups from 100 different countries converge on Waynesville to share cultural music, crafts, dancing, and food. You never know what you’ll find at the International Folk Festival, but you know it will always be interesting. This event is spread out across the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, so you can do some local sightseeing at the same time that you soak up international culture.
